The Class 33 is a class of British railway Diesel Locomotive which became known as 'Cromptons' (after the Crompton Parkinson electrical equipment installed in them). Production commenced in 1957 and a total 0f 98 were built prior to 1962. The Cromptons were used for both Freight and Passenger traffic. Withdrawal commenced in 1985 due to the decline in goods traffic and replacement of passenger duties by Sprinter DMUs. The final locos were withdrawn from service in 1998. Three Locomotives were subsequently re-instated - and the 'real life' 33025 is still working in Aberdeen!!!
