This is a superb, hard to come-by 'Super Detail' Model of this Powerful LMS Locomotive designed by Henry Fowler.

125 of Fowler's Class 4P 2-6-4T Locomotives were built between 1927 and 1934. Number 2311, represented by this superb Hornby Model, was built in 1928. Most of the Locomotives in this Class were used on longer-distance commuter trains from stations in London, Manchester and other large towns. A number were allocated to the Tebay Motive Power Depot and were used to bank heavy passenger and goods trains up the steep incline to Shap on the LMS West Coast Line. Some operated on the long trip from Shrewsbury to Swansea. The last two surviving locos of Fowler's 4P 2-6-4T Class were withdrawn from service in 1966.
